Thomas Colley, chimney sweeper of the parish of Tring found guilty of, with others unknown, the murder of Ruth Osborn by dragging and pulling her through a pond so that she with the water and mud in the pool was suffocated and instantly died in the parish of Tring on 22nd April 1751.  Ruth Osborn was a suspected witch  He was executed and afterwards his body was hanged in chains at Gubblecut.
